The following article was written by a dear friend of mine who is as concerned as I am regarding the worlds water and how we are destroying clean water while taking advantage of people by selling it. This is compelling article that we request you copy, repost, share share share and ACT by doing your part to not contribute to this issue as much as you feel you can. Everyone taking a small step together will make a HUGE difference on our world. It really is up to us…. together….

Notes from the film: Tapped Link to website: www.tappedthemovie.com

Please share this…. so we can build a future for our children……. act… before its too late…
May we walk as one into a bright future,

With finally completing the documentary Tapped on Saturday evening after many computer glitches and after compiling my notes, I wanted to summarize and post some of the most important information for you all. Please read and share wildly…

The World Bank places the World Water Market at 8 hundred billion dollars. Huge corporations salivate at the sound of that because it’s all about the control and ownership of water.
Drought in North Carolina in 2007. Pepsi was continuing its bottling operations during the height of the drought. Drawing over 400,000 gallons a day bottling municipal water that they were then selling back at the very point they were running out of water.
Dasani (Coca-Cola) did the same in Atlanta during severe water restrictions during a long and serious drought. Used 118 million gallons of water.
Quote,” When we are done, tap water will be relegated to showers and washing dishes.” Susan Wellington, President of Quaker’s beverage division, as she boasted playfully to a group of analysts.
Quaker Oats merged with Pepsi Co.
Quote,” the biggest enemy is tap water.” Robert S. Morrison chief of Gatorades parent Quaker Oats Co. during an interview.
PET plastics ( the single serving bottles that are used by bottled water companies Nestle, Coca-Cola and Pepsi are created with the ingredient poly-ethylene tera-thylate which is the main ingredient of refining crude oil. 80% of PET manufacturing winds up in 3 products : Aquafina, Dasani and Nestle. A.K.A. Pepsi, Coca-Cola, and Nestle
Why is this important to know? Plastic water bottle manufacturing uses 714 million gallons of oil every year. That’s enough to fuel 100,000 cars. ( nto that I am into this either, but it puts into perspective)
Parazylene (spelling?) is also found in these bottles and this ingredient is from the Benzene family. Benzene is known to cause cancer

With the knowledge that these bottles are made from the Petro-chemical plants in the U.S., it is sad to find out what is actually going on with the people that are living close to these refineries:

In Corpus Christi Texas birth defects are 84% higher there than the rest of the state average.
People living next to these refineries are very sick, suffering and dying.
As long as people are still purchasing these products we are not helping these people
Breathing the air and drinking the water around these refineries is toxic.
Most of the Petro Chemical plants have major leaks in the ground, so part of the toxic cycle of dealing with PET is that it contributes to so many problems ie: contaminating ground water.
People are not dropping dead from this quickly; they suffer for a long time. This is why it doesn’t need to be looked at as an issue… kind of sounds like the perfect crime.
People want to move away from these areas but feel stuck because they doubt their homes would even sell!

“When we as a society do not protect the most vulnerable, then we leave our whole nation open to vulnerability”

When we are purchasing PET we are contributing to the sacrifice zones and to the toxic exposures that people around the refineries are suffering with.
The problem is only one person in the FDA is responsible for over seeing all of the regulation of bottled water in the country.

Bottled water is virtually un-regulated while tap water is
Bottled water does not need to provide reports to the FDA for tests on their water. Bottled water companies do their own testing and do need to offer this information to the public. It can stay hidden in documents on their computer systems.
Our cities provide water quality reports that you can access free online at anytime. When we reach for bottled water we are pretty much saying we don’t care what they are doing for us.
Freedom of Information Act is trying to access this information regarding bottled water but the FDA is very reluctant to honor citizens organizations.
People think they are making safer choices by purchasing bottled water but if its never tested, you are exposing yourself to unknown chemicals. Why pay a premium price when what you can drink is regulated and already coming out of your tap?

5 types of bottled water ( the ones listed before as well as Fiji and one other) were put through an independent test… what they found was horrifying:

1st the bottles were used straight from the store shelves.

What was found?

Toluene:
- a constituent in gasoline
- been used in paint thinners
- it’s a neuro-toxic agent and linked to adverse reproductive outcomes

2nd test, the bottles were left in the trunk of a car for a week

Styrene:
- cancer causing agent and can cause adverse reproductive outcomes

Diethyl Phthalate ( 3 types of Phthalate were found)
- can cause dysfunction in the fetus
- adverse reproductive outcomes for males and females

If you drink water from plastics you have a high probability of drinking estrogenic compounds

We are blindly trusting companies that are self-regulated and have never been held accountable for anything.

While there is PET single serving bottles there is the 5 gallon and bigger where the main ingredient is Bysphenal A
Its the building block molecule that is in the plastic that is hard and clear. It leaches into the water, and is one of the most potent toxic chemicals known to man.

Bysphenal A acts in very low doses as an estrogen. Any amount is bad as when tested on a male mouse with 25,000 times lower than anyone has ever tested, it profoundly damaged every single part of the male developing mouse reproductive system.

The FDA relied upon data from the companies themselves rather than doing their own testings. They have not been putting the public first.

Bysphenal A is linked to: obesity, breast cancer, prostate cancer, diabetes,, brain disorders ( AD, hyperactivity), ovarian disease, liver disease, disease of the uterus, lung disease, low sperm count.

This is a 7 Billion Dollar a year Industry!

A Government report claiming that Bysphenal A is safe was written largely by the plastics industry and others with a financial stake in the controversial chemical.

Of the 80 million single serving bottles that Americans consume daily, 30% is recycled.

In 1999 studies showed that in our water ways there was 6 times the amount of plastic to plankton
In 2008 it went up to 46 times the amount of plastic to plankton

Dow Chemical asked specific scientists to delay publication regarding a chemical report for the public until it was approved by the chemical company 1st. The scientists raised hell, and will not stay silent about their findings.

40 percent of the time, bottled water is nothing but municipal tap water

And Europe has recently banned Dasani into the country.

And water is now more expensive than gas.

Get back to the tap… and at least put a chlorine filter on your tap and shower head. If you are not sure why, please check out my photos to see the amount that is revealed. Just removing the chlorine is only the beginning but anything is better than nothing.
I personally would like to add that even if people are not purchasing bottled water but are drinking Coke/Pepsi products and purchasing from Nestle and Quaker Oats, they are indirectly and possibly unknowingly saying they are okay with the environmental disaster that is probably one of the most serious at this time. Besides the environment, we need to recognize the impact we make to the people living close to these refineries who are suffering directly with the toxins.

Please take the time to research the above notes companies to see what products they produce. Effecting them in sales by not purchasing from them is one of the most powerful ways to create peaceful change.

WE are keeping these companies in business and allowing them to own our water.
Enough is enough. Time to make a change.

Thank you for your time!
